“ Lent strips us of all our facades, all of our masks, all ways we try to distract ourselves from this hunger we have within to encounter God and reveals us at the core of who we are, that we are made for God.  “ Lent starts March 1, 2017.  What are you going to ask God to do for you this Lent?

Come and join us as we begin the season of Lent with an Ash Wednesday Mass on Wednesday, March 1 @ 10:00. Students from Holy Spirit Academy will be traveling to St. Francis De Sales on the bus. Our Mass will help us to prepare our hearts for the Church’s most important liturgical season.

During the Lenten season, beginning on Ash Wednesday (March 1) and running until Holy Thursday, April 13th, teachers will be focusing on the 3 pillars we use to prepare our hearts for Christ.

  1. Prayer: each day will begin with a Lenten Devotion (Gospel reading and reflection).
  2. Fasting: discussions on how students can give up something special and offer their sacrifice to God. The Church asks us to abstain from meat on Friday.
  3. Almsgiving: classes will be collecting coins in support of the Bishop’s Appeal. Some classes may choose to hold a bake sales, candy grams, etc. Thank you for supporting the Bishop and the many, many agencies the Bishop’s Appeal funds.
